You guys are the real deal. I’m a fellow FF from MD and was just in NY to
visit your house. We support everything you guys go through and have been
through in the past. You are all the guys we look up to and want to be. I
had the pleasure of talking to and shaking John’s hand and will remember
that moment for years. Station 2 Ellicott City will always remember what the
ten house did for your people.

Hello Tenhouse, I was just in NY this past saturday. My boyfriend who is a
firefighter(in MD)and I visited your firehouse. We both were a little down,
just being there at ground zero took our minds back to 2001. On the positive
side..the memorial inside the firehouse was beautiful and the mural outside
had so much detail. My heart goes out to every single one of you. The world
really is lucky to have brave and caring people who risk there lives for the
sake of others, who they don't even know. Thank you again for all you have
done so far and for the future help you will provide to others....Happy New
Year :) With Love, Melissa Herring Bowie, MD

I lived near the Firefighter's Memorial in Colorado Springs for many years,
and I alway's loved going there for inspiration. I am wrapping up a screen
play entitled 'Ten House' about a retired fire house dalmatian who has the
gift of sight for two blind girls who recieve an unusual request from a
fallen 09/11 firefighter. Their quest to fulfill his request has them off on
an amazing journey of discovery and faith. I learned a lot about Ten House
in researching this and can send you a copy of the script, if you like.

the Fire House Close to the Hotle Wellington to visit and give tha tee
shirts he sent from his Fire Department in Gadsden. Going to Ground Zero was
an emotional day for me, I worked E.R. for 18 years and my husband is a fire
fighter for 23 years. He recently was injured in a training incendent and
has been out of work for 3 months. He can't go through with his shoulder
surgery because of a low white blood cell count. We pray for our fire

I have been volunteer FF/EMT for about 24 years. Just wanted to say FDNY is
the "Bravest" FD in the world. Because of the great variety and age of many
buildings in NY, you must face many unusual conditions with each call. FDNY
in my opinion, is what makes us proud to be called a firefighter. One of the
first things we had put on our new ladder truck was "we will never forget".
Hope your firehouse has made life better at your "second" home.

I came to see you guys on the 22nd Oct. Unfortunately you were busy and not
many were around. However, special thanks to Kenny who found time to chat to
us and show us around. It was so important to me. I left our framed picture
of myself in the UK with our rig and a shirt for the guys to fight over!
Thanks again and stay safe.

course the FDNY, so I'm looking for any good photos of the older rigs (1970s

Hello Brothers,
I want to thank you for taking me in on 9/11/07 this year.
I had lost my older brother on 9/11/01 he was a Volunteer Firefighter in NJ
and he worked for Marsh on the 98th floor of the WTC. Unfortunately he was
right where the first plane hit.
This year was tough for me as I wasn't sure if I was going to stay local and
go to services here in his home town or go to Ground Zero as I had in the
past. My family stayed local because of moving the service to the park and
the rain. By the time I decided to come into NYC everyone had plans so I
came alone.
After I went down to bed rock I met one of your men and he told me to fall
in line for the moments of silence.
I hung around 10 house until my brother’s name was read, It took awhile to
get to the "T's" then I headed home.
Once again I want to thank your ranks for taking me and making me feel a
little better on such a hard day.
God bless you and stay safe.

Webmaster's Note: On Nov. 1, 2001, Jeff Taormina submitted his application
to East Rutherford's fire department. It's something his brother had been
asking him to do for 16 years. He has since moved but now serves with the
Nutley, NJ Fire Department continuing to keep the memory of his brother
alive.

I was thinking about my trip to ground zero a couple of years ago, and
remembered seeing the fire house right across the street. I pulled out my
photo album, and saw where it was the Ten House. I was curious, so I surfed
for you on the web.
I know you've heard it a million times, but we are truly a greatful nation.
The suffering and sorrow that you all had to go through is horrid. Know that
there are people everywhere who love, respect, and appreciate you for who
you are, and what you do.
My friend who brought me to ground zero is a Newark officer. We parked very
near your fire house while we visited the memorial, and I was allowed to
present a patch from my department. I thought then how horrible it must have
been to be so close, and then to have to see the aftermath every day since.
You are all in my prayers, and God Bless You!!!

While on a trip to New York City for our 30th anniversary in May, 2007, we
were walking around the World Trade Center and came upon the station which
housed ladder 10. In front was a fireman. I asked if he was there for 9/11
and if he
would talk about it. He told my husband and me many grim details about that
day. They were shocking and upsetting. I tried to hold back the tears but
could not. He said that he and and his company had evacuated over 30,000
people in an hour in tower 1. He was in the tower when it fell. He thought
that it was an atomic bomb, and that it was the end of the world. Yet he
just walked out. I asked him how he survived it; his reply was "God didn't
have me on the list to die that day." I asked if I could have my picture
taken with him. He put his arm around me, pulled me cloer to him .and
smiled..I forced a half-smile with tears in my eyes. I thanked him and told
him he was my hero. I forgot to ask his name. I will never forget you or the things that you went through.
It impacted me more than anything, and I am so grateful now to know your
name so I can keep you in my prayers. Thank you for your strength, courage,
example, and love for mankind. I know that God kept you alive for a purpose.
God bless you and your family.

the Brave.
A Fireman's Prayer:
When I am called to duty, God,
Whenever flames may rage;
Give me strength to save some life,
Whatever be its age.
Help me embrace a little child
Before it is too late
Or save an older person
From the horror of that fate.
Enable me to be alert
And hear the weakest shout,
And quickly and efficiently
To put the fire out.
I want to fill my calling
And to give the best in me
To guard my every neighbor
And protect his property.
And if, according to my fate,
I am to lose my life,
Please bless with your protecting
My children and my wife.

THE BROKEN CHAIN
We little knew that morning that
GOD was going to call their name.
In life we loved them dearly, in death
we do the same**It broke our
hearts to lose them, they did not go
alone; for part of us went with them,
the day GOD called them home.**they
left us peaceful memories, their love
is still our guide; and though we
cannot see them, they are always at our
side.**Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same;
but as GOD calls us one by one,
the CHAIN will link again.
(GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU ON THIS DAY)
We will NEVER FORGET

On the eve of 9/11, I wanted to let you know that not one day goes by
without thinking of the fireman and everyone else that lost there life on
the most horrific day.
May strength get you though every day you shed a tear and your heart breaks.
My thoughts and prayers are with you... Always.

~Always remembered and never forgotten!"~
"Tribute to Firefighters of FDNY!"
In the battle against the beastly fire...
They stay together, ready to fight!
To help all the victims of every accident,
committed to rescue, by day and by night.
These are the courageous Firefighters,
In their cities and towns of every land.
They stand together as really true friends,
Routinely they're all working hand in hand.
Everyone of them looks after the other,
Their brotherhood knows no borders...!
They are ready to help in their unselfish way,
Without fear, they follow their orders!
Many of them gave their lives in New York,
On September the eleventh, two thousand and one...!
Firefighters everywhere will remember that day,
And their feelings of loss will never be gone.
Written by Hartmut Reinsch
(German-Canadian Goldsmith and Homeland Poet)
September 16, 2001 Toronto Canada
May we always remember their sacrifice,
in their quest to help and save the lives of innocent victims,
on that tragic day of Sept. 11. 2001 in New York City, USA.
A word after..., from "ground zero!"
What we are left with,
surrounded by death and fear,
is our sense of loyalty and of duty...
which calls upon us
to place a shining beacon of hope in this world,
and to entrust the universal darkness
to the light of God.

Hi guys - I met a number of you back in 2004 when my husband (then
boyfriend) and I spent a weekend there - he proposed to me at Times Square.
He has been a professional firefighter for 10 years now with the City of
Waukesha Fire Department here in Wisconsin. I guess we decided the best way
to celebrate our engagement was to hang out with a bunch of you at O'Hara's
- I remember meeting and have many pictures with Anthony Henry that night.
We had such a great time and will never forget our visit. Now, 3 years
later, I am desperate for a new Ten House hat for my husband. We bought one
while we were there and it is in rough shape! I have made many attempts to
purchase a new one by begging friends visiting NY to stop to see you guys to
get one. Unfortunately, they have been unsuccessful. Please let me know what
I can do to get a new hat - we would both appreciate it so much.
All our best,

Here is a letter I wrote to my local (Local 2) after the death of William
Grant. A CFD firefighter on his way to an automatic alarm and his truck was
hit by a school bus. He was ejected and the rig rolled over on him.
The circumstances are completely different but the thoughts and words should
be take in the same context The City of New York should never forget who the
true heroes are and who really protects them.
Tom,
Today I was purging my computer of hundreds of e-mails and I felt compelled
to read your letter again. I want you to know that this was one of the best
pieces of correspondence I have ever received.(And believe me, I get a lot
of them!)
You state that you "ONLY" have 2 years on the job, but as the events that
happened in South Carolina will show, the dangers of this job don't care how
much time on the job you have. We risk our lives every time the bell rings
and it's high time that all these politicians and bean-counters realize it.
Stay safe and take care.
If there is anything I can help you with, don't hesitate to call me on my
cell, day or night.
Tom Ryan
VP CFFU - Local 2
As a rather new Chicago Firefighter, I experienced several strong emotions
with the passing of Firefighter William Grant. This is my first line of duty
death. Besides great sadness and sorrow, I experienced great pride and
at the same time, extreme anger. I cried and I wanted to put my fist through
the television.
I was extremely proud of my fellow Firefighters. Chicago personnel and
personnel from across the country. Firemen, Police, Military and Citizens of
The City of Chicago. I was also proud of our Commissioner and the leadership
of this fine department. The Commissioner's word came from his heart, not
from a staff writer. He meat what he said. You could feel it.
We honored Firefighter Grant in a way deserved of a true hero. We honored
him in a way I do not feel anyone could have done better. We did it right.
I was appalled at the medias coverage of Firefighter William Grant's
funeral. The news media did a fair job, but the television coverage was
inappropriate considering a protector of our fine city lost his life. No
one covered it live and the web casts that were available kept freezing and
going out. The whole event from start to finish should have been covered for
all to see. Respecting the family's privacy of course. They kept
breaking away to cover a compressor fire on a hi-rise downtown.
I unfortunately had to work as did hundreds of other Chicago firefighters. I
would have given anything to be there. To pay homage and tribute to a man I
did not know but respected. To show my support to his family. To be there
with my brothers and sisters. I was glued to the television at 10:30 and
only bits and pieces were aired.
Did anyone besides this mans family and Firefighters across the country
care? I guess hard work, dedication and
duty are not news worthy. Martha Stewart and day time cooking shows were
more important.
Yes, it was absolutely beautiful.
Yes, it was large and impressive.
Yes, is was extremely sad.
Yes, the grandeur was something that is usually reserved for heads of state.
But that's not what it was about and that was the only reason the media
covered it. It was about a great man, a great father, a great husband and a
great firefighter. Nothing more. The show was not what was important. It
was the man. Heroes like him deserve more. Heroes like him do not come along
very often, if ever again.
A hero was laid to rest. And more importantly,
The City of Chicago lost a hero.
Saying this, I was extremely angered over the fact that our Mayor didn't
have the decency to show up. I wanted to rip the TV right out of the wall.
He sent one of his "flunkies" who read a script prepared by a person of his
staff. No emotion, compassion or feeling. What could possibly have been
more important? Was it because Local 2 backed Dorothy Brown?
I hope every Firefighter who lives in the City of Chicago remembers the
disrespect he paid to William Grant, his family and to the Fire Department
as a whole.
I really wonder where peoples priorities are. You can turn the TV on any
time of the day and hear about Anna Nicole Smith or turn on any local news
and watch that appalling video of that cop beating the female bartender.
What is really important to us?
White, Black & Hispanic. Male and Female. Catholics, Christians, Jews,
Muslims and Atheists. Heterosexual and Homosexual. Republicans and
Democrats. All finally coming together for a brief moment putting all our
differences aside to do something good and something positive.
Honoring a great man, a great father, a great husband and a great
Firefighter. Standing side by side as brothers and sisters. It was only a
short time but it was
impressive.
I have been on the job for a little under two years. I am the fifth
generation in my family to proudly wear the badge of a Chicago Firefighter.
I unfortunately never had the chance to work with William Grant. I pray for
him and his family every night as do my four children. I pray that I can
become the type of Firefighter he was and that I will be able to honor my
family, The City of Chicago and The Chicago Fire Department as he did.
He gave the ultimate sacrifice for this City and for all it's residents.
Every single man and woman in a Fire Department uniform that was in
attendance at
the funeral or at the firehouses scattered throughout the country is of the
same character.
We were all hurt beyond belief at the loss of this man. He was the type that
all Firefighters could look up to and try and emulate.
The motto of The Chicago Fire Department is "We're there when you need us!".
Where was the Mayor and where was the media when we needed them.
When a bad Cop or bad Firefighter screws up, it's front page news or they
break into your favorite show with all the nasty details. Is this the only
news people care about any more?
I took the time to sit down with my children and explain what happened and
why it was important for them to understand what this man did and what he
has given up for the rest of us. What his family gave up. What was lost
and why things like this happen.
What was important was Queen of Martyrs and Saint John Fisher schools
allowing all the children to line 103rd street and honor this man as the
funeral procession drove bye.
What was important was the hundreds of people who had no duty to honor this
man came out of their houses and walk blocks to watch the funeral procession
pass by.
What was important was men and women in uniform coming from all across the
country to pay respect to a man they never met but shared a duty and a
uniform with.
I guess being a Firefighter and from a Firefighter's family instills you
with different values. I guess we place importance on different things
because of all the bad things we see while we are wearing that uniform. I
guess we just hold things that much more precious.
Richard Daley and the people in the media and the station managers at our
local stations should be ashamed and embarrassed. It would have been a great
opportunity to show our children the story of a great man, working in a
great city and for a great fire department. It
would have been good to use William Grant's story to highlight dedication to
his family, his job, his City and his country.
Does the media and news care? Does Daley care?
The Chicago Fire Department and William Grant cared.
Firefighters across the country cared.
I care!
We actually don't care.
In a different yet special way.
We don't care if it's a fire or a sprained ankle. We'll be there.
We don't care who's house it is. We'll be there.
We don't care what color or race you are. We'll be there.
We don't care what time it is. We'll be there.
We don't care about the weather. We'll be there.
We don't care what dangers we face. We'll be there.
We don't care about cause or circumstance. We'll be there.
This is why I waited ten years to get on this job.
This is why I try and be the best Firefighter I can be every day
This is why I go to work knowing I might not come home one day.
This is why I love being a Chicago Firefighter.
And this is why I know that if I have to give the ultimate sacrifice that
the rest of the men and women in uniform will be there for me and my family.
I feel sorry for the people who either don't get this or cannot comprehend
it's importance.
Respectfully Submitted,
FF/EMT-B

I am a firefighter in Chicago. I was at Ten house when the Deutsche Bank

have been on the CFD for a little over two years and I am a fifth generation
firefighter. I knelt down and cried when I heard the horrible news. I said
my prayers for all of you, your families and for the families of those two
beautiful brave men. I am a true believer that God has a very special place
for these two HEROES. They are now entrusted with the duty of watching over
all of us who put our lives on the line every day. I can never imagine the
pain and sorrow you and your department has experienced over the last

I visited New York last summer, and i couldn't believe how big ground zero
really was, and it is hard to describe to my brother firefighters how it
looked at ground zero without being there. I have a good friend that lost a

because who else would run into a burning building when everyone else is
running out,I have been a paid fireman for 3 years in north carolina, and i
love my job very much. I pray for all the firefighters everywhere that they
have a safe shift, and get to return to there families the next day. I'm

I visited TEN HOUSE in May 2007. Thank you for allowing me to have my
picture taken with you. The memorial you have built is beautiful. I worked
on an auto-racing team and I like to think that your brotherhood is the the
same way I looked at our "family". Until my friend was killed during a race
in 1997, I didn't realize how precious life is. I struggled with coping for
many years. The one thing that kept me going through both of these tragedies
is all of these men died doing what they loved most! Though they are not
here physically, they are here spiritually. Thank you for the memories and
you have done a wonerful job of making TEN HOUSE beautiful again.

really admire about FDNY is how good of a sample they set for children. My 6
year old cousin looks up to you and he says one day when he grows up he
wants to be a fireman. Saving lives is the best gift anyone can give.
I went to the FDNY Calender signing on Aug. 7 at Hawaiin Tropix. It was
pretty hot in there and all the Firemen I met were very nice and friendly.
There was one FF that stood out, Mark Medina. Is he avaible? LOL I am 26 yrs
old from QNS. God Bless You All and Please Let him Bless me with a Fireman.

It was truly amazing the detail of the plaques for the fallen heroes. You
all are heroes whether you believe it or not. I was amazed to see the
plaques on the wall of the fire station when I had the opportunity to see
N.Y.C. I also had the great pleasure of helping the families left behind by
buying one of your tribute shirts. I would really appreciate it if you could
tell me how to get another one. I realize that you are really busy with more
important things than telling someone how to buy a shirt but my son would
really appreciate it. Thank You! I am glad I got the pleasure of meeting
some of America's heroes including Vinni.

way home we decided to vist the site of the WTC.Not really knowing what to
expect we arrived at the site it was not until we saw how close your fire
house was to the Towers did it hit me of how compelling your stories
are. Many thanks to you guys who were friendly and willing to answer
questions and show us around.Thank you for allowing photographs some of the
pictures show the innocents of my girls as they look in awe at your engine
(its a bit larger than our one ,but we all do the one job)maybe in the
future they will understand the significance of their visit to such a Fire

Seeing "Ladder 10's" red door in a picture, got me thinking about 9/11. I
was a Red Cross volunteer in 9/2001-10/2001. One night, we had to go to
"Fire Station 10". We had trouble getting to it, because road signs were
missing, some roads were still clogged with debris or blocked with vehicles.
I had to lead an ERV group through the rubble, to "fire station 10". The
police and firemen kept telling me to "go that way" and "find the red door".
It was about 2am, the fire was flaring up, and it was really loud. Very
scary stuff. Covered in mud (carrying a coffee urn and slipping in the mud,
didn't work out so well), we were very relieved to finally locate "the red
door". I will never forget that door though, the firemen sitting in front of
it, the rubble on the stairs in the building, the crushed door from a fire
engine (in the bay), and a bunch of firemen that were really happy to have
Red Cross coffee and hamburgers.
I haven't been back to Ground Zero in a few years. They were rebuilding
Ladder 10 at that time, so I suppose the "red door" is gone, but I will
never forget Ladder 10.
You have a difficult place to work, since you're looking at the WTC site
everyday. I hope the rebuilding is a good thing for you to see. God bless
all of you.

operational as when I was there in 2002 it was not. Good luck and all the
best to all of you in '10 House.' I will be back in October and will see if
I can stop in to say hello and also visit the Memoorial Visitor Center next

Hey brothers,

the FDNY's principles. Everything I do is a reflection of how the FDNY

God bless you guys. My wife and I were in the city Dec. 26-07 and visited
Squad 18 and Engine 26 briefly. Then made our way to your block. Words can't
describe the short time we spent in the area. It was our first time there
since the attack. My wife is from Port Jervis and grew up around Firemen and
Firehouses. I am from South Texas and we live in Pickens, South Carolina
where I am a volunteer fireman. We just want to say we appreciate as much as
we can what you have to uphold in your House there. Someday we ill visit the
city again and hopefully stop in to say hello and to pay our respects. Good
luck and God Bless.

Just thinking about all you guys today - for some reason. I became a
chaplain one month before that day. Your tragedy was my first call. Then, a
couple years later - we lost a sister in a wildland fire. She was a former
student of mine - and so were five of her pall bearers. I helped plan her
funeral. You sent five firefighters to the service - all the way in
California. You'll probably never know what that meant to me. Thanks.

Hello greetings from the Netherlands!
Been in New York City in 2003 while visiting my aunt in connecticut.
On the first day in NYC one of the first things i've heard was a fire truck.
And i stood on the sidewalk in front of your firestation, ladder 10 at the
ground zero site.
It was very impressive to hear the firetrucks and see the names of those who
died on 9-11 on the trucks.
Respect goes out to the FDNY and those who died, Love New York City!

My son wrote this for school as a fictional story for his grade six essay
(this is almost the final draft). He was determined to use real characters
(if only one) and he chose Jeff Olsen. It is still much in his mind even if
he only barely remembers the events of 9/11. I thought you might like to
read it as it was a project on human integrity. How brave you all were!
The Crash
It was July 31st, 2006 and 8:45 a.m. in Toronto, Ontario. It was a
beautiful, sunny summer day. The streets were busy with trolleys, buses,
cars, cyclists and pedestrians. All seemed normal enough. As long as they
all had their Tim Horton’s coffe, people were ready for their day.
Jeffrey Olsen was 31 years old and had juts finished his second year with
the TF (Toronto Fire Department). He’d already finished his second cup of
Tim Horton’s Mocha Java because his shift began at 6:30 a.m. He was working
with his crew mates checking all the equipment, washing the trucks and
making sure his gear was ready.
It was a pretty quiet start to the day. With chores done, one of the few
firemen who knew how to cook started making breakfast for the crew. The plan
was for omlettes, crispy bacon, toast, pancakes and fresh orange juice.
Halfway into their delicious breakfast, their alarm rang. It was 8:37 a.m.
Ithe report came through that a small engine aircraft carrying 27 passengers
and three crew members had crashed into Jones Tower. Jones Tower had beem
completed in 2004 and was a state-of-the-art 50 storey building.
Jeff’s crew was the fist on the scene. It wasn’t pretty and things didn’t
look good. WHY But Jeff and his team trust their Captain.
The Captain realized that more than one crew would be needed, so he called
for back-up. While he was doing this, Jeff and the others set up the
equipment with the ease of a well-oiled team.
Just then, debris started falling from the tower. Everyone managed to dodge
the objects, but the Captain was not so lucky. He was hit by a large chunk
of concrete and his leg was badly broken. DESCRIBE Who would take charge
with the Captain injured and unable to lead?
Jeff had spent a lot of time with his Grandfather while growing up. His
grandfather had been a Major in WW II and had led his men in battle through
France and into Germany. With his stories, he had taught Jeff the qualities
of leadership, courage, determination and compassion.
Without thinking, Jeff ordered two firefighters to help the Captain and
radio for more help. He called to the remaining team members and began
evacuating the occupants of the tower.
Jeff and his team were on the 14th floor when other fire stations began to
arrive. They quickly started to help. Jeff instructed the teams to use the
leap-frog system so at least three stories were covered and evacuated at the
same time.
Though Jeff wasn’t a Captain, all the firefighters realized he was in
control.
All seemed to be going well and there seemed to be very few infuries. That
would be until Jeff’s team had the “luck” to reach the 49th floor where th
plane had struck.
Many office workers lay injured, some very badly. Jeff called for extra help
and paramedics. The plane was resting half way into the building.
As acting Captain, he decided to enter the aircraft, but only after it had
been secured to a supporting steel pillar.
They could all hear the screams and moans of the passengers and crew, and
they worked as hard and as fast they could.
Jeff was finally able to enter the plane and quickly decided what was
needed.
Under his command, all passengers and flight crew were carefully but quickly
removed from the plane and taken to safety.
When Jeff finally reached ground level, he saw units from other stations
dealing with small fires, he saw the injured being loaded into ambulances,
and he saw his crew all safe. His Captain had only suffered a broken leg.
While there were many injuries, there were no deaths. The biggest loss was
that of Jones Tower which had to be torn down.
Several months and many service calls later, Jeff was awarded the highest
honour – The Medal of Valour for his courage, bravery and leadership in
extreme conditions.
When he received this award, he humbly said, “It’s my grandfather’s name
that should be on this”.
Keep safe,
Mother of Callum Jones

I just want to thank you guys for being the soul of NY. I am a former NYer
and couldn't bring myself to visit Ground Zero until this past week. I
stopped by and met one of your firefighters, bought a sweatshirt I wore
proudly; and spent the rest of my time at ground zero with a lump in my
throat. As hard as it was for me to see what had happened the towers I used
to visit regularly with my son when he was very young,it was harder still to
see the loss the FDNY had suffered. You all are truly my heroes. Thank you
for being there.

You guys are awesome! Recently, you got a message in the guestbook from a

documentary and won 1st place. The stories from firehouse 10 really helped
us in doing our project, and were amazing to hear. Thank you so much for
making a page on your website with the firefighters story of 9/11. They were
very inspirational.

Hi, My name is Mark John, I'm an artist from Chicago. I visited your house
on 9-11-05 and donated a charcoal sketch of three brave firemen hoisting up
the American flag at ground zero shortly after the attacks on 9-11-01. I've
donated my drawing titled "American Pride" to over 80 firehouses across the
United States. I'm writing to inform you I'll be back in NYC the week of the
11th this year doing some work with the Dennis Leary Foundation and would
love to come by and visit again. People say to me my work is inspirational
but It would be nothing if it not for the brave firefighters in New York,
Chicago and across this great nation of ours. Thank you for your unselfish
dedication to people who sometimes forget the dangers connected with your
job. I donate my art to thank the firefighters and to remind the people how
special this family is. We hurt as a nation, we heal as a nation, and I just
want to make sure we dont forget as a nation. I look forward to visiting
your house again. May God bless & look after all of you as you look after
all of us! Thank You...

Gentlemen, I recently visited you station with a group of High School
students from Pasadena, Texas, and wanted to express my gratitude for what
you do. I also thank you for being as genuine and honest with our kids as
you were. Seeing the location of Ten House, and its proximity to Ground
Zero, is something that must be witnessed first hand. Seeing pictures on the
computer pales in comparison. Several of my students who have seen the
pictures that I returned with, but were unable to make the trip, have
inquired about making purchases of t-shirts and calendars from you. I told
them that I was not aware of puchases by mail, but that I would check into
it. If there is a possibility of this, please let me know. If not, I'll tell
them that they need to buy a plane ticket. Thank you again for your time,
your patience with the students, and the job that you do. I am proud to say
that I have visited your station.

lot to just visit the site and especially to recieve as warm a welcome from

been volunteering for three years now and hoping to get on a payed

much better. When I started your was the first and only patch that I have
and it is on a woodframe and hanging on my wall. Everytime I leave for a
call as I am running out the door I tap it for good luck and for the three
years I have been doing that I have survied falling though a roof and being
pulled out of the fire before the house collaped. So its almost like my good
luck charm. Be safe and keep doing a hell of a good job

appreciate the fire departments until it happens to them and this is not how
it should be. It is truly amazing how brave firefighters have to be and
these men gave all on September 11th. Hopefully we will be able to get to

I am a crewmember with the Rnli over in Ireland (sea rescue service) and i
was on holidays last week in NY. While i was shocked and and saddened to see
ground Zero, i could not help feeling pride when i saw your renovated
station and crew patiently waiting for the next call to action. Keep up the

TO ALL AT THE 10 HOUSE
I am in the United States Navy and have been a Vollie for some time now. I
hail from the great state of Pa and have been a FDNY fan and follower for as
long as I can remember, which is a long time, considering I am now 44 and
losing my hair and my mind! I have friends that were at the 10 House after
911. I have not had the honor to visit yet, but I will before I kick the
bucket. Let me say how sorry I am for your loss on Sept. 11. On that day and
at that hour I was never so sad in my life. I say this one more time, each
and every one of you guys were in my prayers on that day and everyday. You
guys take care and God bless, stay safe

brother visited yalls station a week before 9/11, afterwards took it pretty
because he had met a few of yall. He was concerned! He just got back from
NYC a couple of weeks a visited yall again. I think he enjoys going to see
yall when he visits. As he says its a "Must Stop" now. Keep up the good work
up there and be careful!

Hi Guys, Hope all is well. I stopped by to see ya all. In April of 2006. I
came to New York from LA. To bring LAFD T-shirts and patches. There is never
a day go by that I don't think of you all. I cried that day I visited you.
Why? Because of all that has happened. And how far you have come.... I will
NEVER forget! Thank-you again for all you do. I'll send pics of that fine
day I met you all.Debbie

Hello American Firefighters!
My name is Robert and I am writing from Offenburg, Germany, which is located
in the black forest region. I was wondering if there are some
German-Americans here who could help me with an quick survey about their
German heritage, and so on. It is totally confidential, no spam, no
commitments etc, just some survey questions. You can find the survey at the
above link. Thank you very much for your help. Vielen Dank und auf
Wiedersehen
