Hi,
It's been four years and it feels like yesterday.
I am the sister of one of your fallen brothers, Lt. Robert F. Wallace, Engine 205.
Several days after that horrible day, your firehouse was very gracious and a warm place for us. You guys were so wonderful to my family, especially my father, Eugene who is a retired firefighter. There was so much grief and pain but we were comforted at 10 & 10. I'll never forget how nice you all were to us.
My grandfather, father and brother were all firefighters and loved what they did. Growing up in a firefighter family was wonderful. There is a true brotherhood that only we can understand and appreciate.
Thank you again,
With much love and respect,
Liza Yonus

One thing that caught my eye was the "We Support Our Troops" sticker on the windshield of one of the trucks. That means a great deal to both of us. Lots of love to all of you and your families. We keep in our prayers all of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Hey my brothers in Firefighting. I want to thank all of you for the kindness that was shown towards me in April 2004 while I was living in Bronx, NY close to Engine 66 Ladder 61 aka The Co-op Crew. Firefighting is a way of life that many do not understand and all of you at Ten House along with all FireHouses in NYC have a way of life that should be respected by all. The pictures that I was allowed to take inside of the house are great and the next time that I am NYC I hope that I can drop by again. If you find the time I would like talk to any of you if possible. May God bless all of you and protect you while you serve others.

Just wanted to take a moment and to thank all the firefighters for doing one of the most bravest jobs their is. Words can not express my gratitude, I did however have some questions, that is if you don't mind?
Is there a donation that honestly is sent to the people it should be sent to? I wouldn't mind buying the merchandise as well as long as the profits go to you guys.
I hope I am not bothering you and just wanted to say thank you for all your sacrifices. Not only should it not take a certain day to remember but everyday we should appreciate every fireman or police officer.

Hey, how are you doing! I'm a volunteer firefighter for Depew, just outside of Buffalo. I have a year left of high school and once I get my collage credits I'm signing up for the test to be with the FDNY. I've been wanting to be one since I can remember. I was in NY the weekend of August 13 - 16. On the 15th I went to the Ten House but the engine and ladder were out on a run, which was a shame. When I get in I'm hoping I get put at the Ten House. Like the saying you guys have "if ur not scared ur crazy!"

First off I would like to extend a big "Thank you" I stopped by the firehouse soon after it opened. Everyone that was on the 6x9 tour was very nice. I was even invited to dinner but declined. I figured that they needed the food more than I. The next time I stop in the house I will bring ya'll some good pennsylvania dutch country cooking. The guys over at 33/9 love the woopie pies. I love the site as well. I stop in from time to time to see if you have any updates. Take care and hope to see you on my next trip up!

My husband and I visited Ground Zero on Dec. 31, 2003. My brother-in-law is a Saginaw,Michigan Firefighter. While at Ground Zero, we stopped at Ten House and knocked on the door. A firefighter was kind enough to let us in. I wish I would have gotten his name because he was so kind to us. While we were at Ground Zero, you could feel a reverence. You would never know you are in the middle of Manhattan. It made quite an impact on both my husband and I. I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to that firefighter for letting us in. God Bless all of you and you will continue to be in our prayers.

But to be honest I hope we did you boys proud. To tell you the truth there wasn't one bomb I saw then that didn't have FDNY or NYPD on it. I'm in MD now and a Voluteer F.F. Best wishes stay safe.... We watched the late night TV news in Sydney, Australia, as the first news of the 9/11 events came through, and stayed up into the small hours of the morning as the terrible events of that day unfolded, all the while feeling dumbstruck and saddened by what we saw.
Yesterday (Saturday 6th August 2005), our family had the opportunity to visit NYC and the firemen of Ten House happened to have opened up their doors to a few people walking past. We're thankful to the firemen who let us inside and allowed us to take a photograph of our two oldest sons and their dad sitting on the bumper of Ladder # 10 truck, and also to see their tributes and memories they had created to remember their fallen comrades.
We'll remember the events of 9/11. Although we live a world away "DownUnder" we too will never forget.

My son was in Pre-K down the street at Trinity and my wife worked just around the corner from you. Because of this proximity, I'd often find myself walking with my young son past Ten House. I can't tell you how many times we exchanged greetings with firefighters, look with bemusement at the 'caged truck' on Greenwich during your renovations or even stopped for a minute when one of you would put my son on a truck. 9-11 saw my son starting 1st grade in Chinatown and my wife could never return to her office. Three years later we moved away from the city. But, I will never forget your kindness and strength and can never repay the influence
you had on my son.

I recently was in NYC city on vacation and just happened to
rest from walking right in front of Tenhouse. It took me
seeing the trucks coming back from a call to realize exactly where I was sitting..on the curb beside the firehouse that was the first to respond to the Trade Centers on 9-11. Just looking into your faces made me
realize how thankful I am that I live in America and that
there are people like you in the business of saving and preserving life to the best of your ability...just know that we love FDNY and Tenhouse for your service to your city and to your country...God Bless you.

Hello to Engine 10 and Ladder 10 crews. I am an emergency room nurse in Arizona, and Dan is a former firefighter in Oregon. Dan has been in NYC for business and I flew up 5 days over July 4th weekend 2005. Ground Zero was a must stop for us and we were both taken aback by this powerful visit to Ground Zero. We happened across your station and have since read even more than we already had about the impact on the FDNY fire crews (on 9/11 and thereafter). God rest the souls of the firefighters from Ten House that lost their lives trying to save others, and God bless each of you and your families.

About 2 weeks ago I was lucky enough to take a side trip to New York City. Since about a year after 9-11 I have always wanted to take a trip to see ground zero and it was my underlying wish to meet a real New York City firefighter that had seen the horror of that day and to hear a personal account of what had happend. Out of luck the firefighters on engine 10 that day had taken their engine out for a stroll and were sitting at a street cornor across from the WTC site, thinking I would be lucky to get 2 min. of their time I walked up to the engine to say my thanks, not only was my thanks well received, but they appeared asintersted to hear my story as I was theirs, to those on duty that day i thank you for taking time to make my wish come true, and i really do believe you made a difference in my life and how i react when the tones go out. Hello E-10 and L-10 crews. I was fortunate enough back in Dec. 01 to be able to make a visit to New York for a fundraiser for fallen Fire Fighters and Paramedics following 9-11. I had the opportunity to meet with several of your members during a trip down to Ground Zero. I would like to say thank you for all the hospitality while we made a brief visit to the Ten House. During the trip I was able to take hundreds of pictures from your roof top but unfortunately the wonderful airline that took us back to Illinois amazingly lost my digital camera and all the pictures that I was able to take. They may have been able to loose all the pictures but they will never loose my memories. You guys are always in my prayers and keep up the good work.

Hey Guys, I'm the photographer from Appleton Wisconsin who took all the pictures for our Ladder 10 story that ran in our newspaper. The reporter Ed Culhane and myself were there in Sept. 2002. I don't expect you to remember me, but just wanted to let you know I stumbled onto the site. I had no idea you had all those pictures posted. How freakin' cool.
I gotta tell ya, that was by far the most incredible assignment we've ever had. I can't even begin to explain. We went from having no idea how you guys would accept us, to eating dinner with you all and riding around lower Manhattan in a freaking FDNY fire truck! I hope you all are doing OK.
My five year wedding anniversary is in October and I'm planning on surprising my bride with a trip to NY. I'd love to stop by and say hello. You guys rock! Say Hi the gang. Mike

My team deployed to the WTC two weeks after the attack. I was assigned to the site located at Liberty and Westside Hwy. During my many trips running back and forth, I stopped in and visited at your station. I also found a shirt that belongs to an FDNY firefighter named Drury. I have been trying to find out how to get in touch with him so I can return it to him. It has been hanging in my closet since October 2001.

My wife and I had the honor of visiting your station while in Manhattan in July 04. I spent several years in the emergency services spectrum in Southern California and have worked with many dedicated professionals through out my career. As you know, fire and law enforcment may not always agree on how to best respond to a call, but I would like to say that I never felt closer to a bunch of guys (especially ones that I have never had the honor of working with) than when I was in your presence.
My family and I appreciate your kindness.
Thank You for doing your best.

Hello my brothers:
I had called central dispatch a couple years ago and found out that Ten House was first due at the WTC 9-11-01. I will be sending something in the near future that I wrote on 9-15-01 and dedicated to my fallen brothers of F.D.N.Y. It's not much but it comes from the heart. From a volunteer of 35 years, may St. Florian ride with you all on every run, and may God Bless you all.

I am a former Franklin Square firefighter now living in Arizona. In April of 2002 I had the honor of standing on the roof of your house(thanks to Warren Fuchs) to view ground zero first hand. I witnessed many horrifying things including firefighters that were still searching for remains in the pit. Perhaps the most heartbreaking was the looks on the on the faces of the on duty firefighters as I passed thru the command ctr on the 2nd floor on my way to the roof...I could feel their pain without them even speaking a word. I will never forget that day as long as I live! May god bless you all, our true hereos!

Hello guy's. I'm that N.C. firefighter that was at your station in May 2002. I went to the roof to overlook trade center area with the Capt. I went to Iraq to fight for you all and did a ten (10) month deployment in Iraq. I was wounded 7 months out and I'm doing fine now. I have a best friend that is still there and wants to send you all a "Old Glory" US flag that was flown over Iraq. A rememberace that we are still there fighting against the terrorist and will never quit! With the flag will be a certificate and such. I was wondering if you can email me your address so we can mail it out to you all.

Hey guys. I was so proud to be able to come home from my trip to NY with a picture of me with 2 of your men. I am a volunteer firefighter/EMS worker near where I live.
I just finished reading the story posted on your website of 911 "Amazing Grace". By the time I finished I had tears rolling down my cheeks. When 911 happened I was only 16 and a JR at my local fire department. I wish that I had been able to do more than just pray. My fiancée and I came to the city last year for New Year's. While we were there I made it a point to stop at your station. I was so thrilled to be there and I was so proud to be able to come home and show everyone the picture that I had taken with two of the men from there. That one visit meant the world to me because I am a volunteer firefighter/EFR and have been for 5 years now. I have that picture framed and hanging on my wall as a constant reminder of my visit and how special it was. It is the first thing I show people when they come to visit.
Thank you so much for being such an inspiration to me. I admire the hard work and risks that you take. I would have to say that the firefighters of NY have a huge impact on how I think when I go on a call. Thank you for your many sacrifices. Thank you so much for all of your inspiration and courage. I admire all that you do and look up to you.

This is a great site. I've been to 10 House three times now on my vacations to NYC since 9/11. And to see what it looked like just after the attacks and to see the difference to 10 House every time i've been down. I've met a number of great firefighters and heros from the FDNY who take me and my fellow Firefighters in to talk and I'm proud to be part of a great traditon also here in Canada. Thanks to all the guys in Battalion 1 stay safe and Gods speed.
