Captain Bosco

"The members of Ten House wish to express their support of all the officers who were disciplined by the FDNY and relieved of their command. We feel that this is a political shell game to scapegoat these fine officers. The Deutsche Bank fire was a tragedy and the subsequent disciplinary actions taken by the FDNY are a travesty of justice and an insult to the brave men who made the supreme sacrifice.

We ask that all visitors to our website take the time to get all of the facts. Please follow the links to the articles listed below. Say a prayer for FF Robert Beddia & FF Joseph Graffagnino and their families and hope that the truth is allowed to come out and Captain Peter Bosco, Battalion Chief John McDonald, and Deputy Chief Richard Feurch are exonerated."

Finger-Pointing Over Deutsche Bank Tragedy:

Oh Captain, My Captain

"I have been assigned to Engine 10 since I graduated from the FDNY Academy, one month after they re-opened the firehouse, in November of 2003. My first Captain, now a Battalion Chief, was called back to FDNY HQ for an extended period of time on a special assignment. The company has experienced a revolving door of Captains. Each one was an excellent officer, teacher, and a man of exemplary character but they chose not to make Ten House their home.

Between the crush of tourist, the PR, the dog & pony show that is constantly run through our house, it is akin to being on a reality television show. Captain Pete Bosco chose to make Ten House his home and brought some stability back to our company. When we did Building Inspections with him they were some of the most thorough I have ever done. The Deutsche Bank building has been off limits to us for as long as I can remember.

I am not a bureaucrat so I don't know how or who to blame but I do know one thing for certain, Captain Pete Bosco is not the one to blame and does not deserve this unjust reprimand. FF Robert Beddia and FF Joseph Graffagnino deaths were unnecessary and tragic. A knee-jerk reaction to find a scapegoat to pin the blame on only makes this more tragic."

An edited version of this letter appeared in the "Voice Of The People" section of the New York daily News on September 3, 2007.

Previous Incident at Deutsche Bank on Thursday, May 17, 2007

Thanks for your thoughts, concerns, and prayers.  Three of our firefighters suffered minor injuries on Thursday, May 17.  A 14 ft. pipe fell from the 35th floor of the former Deutsche Bank building and came crashing through the 2nd floor roof of our House onto the second floor stairwell.

The Deutsche Bank building was damaged on 9/11 and is being taken down.  Two members were within a few feet of the crash.  We are all so thankful that it was not a lot worse.  Everything was back online later that day.
